We do not offer a free trial. However, all students are welcome to try a month to see if our courses are for you.

In order to try just one month, you may enroll in the membership and cancel anytime you wish within the first month. No matter when you cancel, your enrollment will remain active until the end of your current billing period (one month from the initial date of enrollment). So no worries about trying to remember to cancel at the last minute if you do not wish to continue.

Please be aware that monthly membership is an automated subscription. If you do not cancel, you will continue to be charged until you cancel. If you prefer to purchase courses individually for a one time fee, please see our A La Carte course options.

Prior to enrollment, we recommend viewing this video for the current, most comprehensive look at the type of content that we offer, and how the course platform is set up. The preview videos on the various course pages and our Youtube channel also show a lot of what we do. New features, courses, and lessons are being added to this platform regularly.

You can cancel your membership anytime. The steps to do so are as follows: 

  1. Log in to the site with your username & password.

  2. Navigate to your personal profile, select "My Account" and then "Billing."

    On Desktop:  Your personal profile is represented by your name in the upper right hand corner. Select “My Account" from drop down. Once on the account page, select “Billing” from the left hand menu.

    On Mobile Browser: Tap the Menu button in the top right corner. Then tap “My Account” under your personal profile information. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Billing.”

    On the Mobile App: Tap the small circular icon in the right hand corner. Select “My Information,” and then “Edit Profile.” This will take you to a browser window. Log in again, if necessary, and scroll to the bottom and select “Billing.”

  3. On the Billing page you will see your credit card and subscription options. Here you can pause, or cancel your subscription.

Whether you are an online member or have simply purchased one course, our course provider, Thinkific, has created a mobile-friendly option that should make working with course content via your phone or tablet much more user friendly.

In order to access this app, go to the Google Play or Apple App store on your device and search for “Thinkific.” Download this app.

Once you’ve downloaded the app, the app will open to a simple search screen. Type in “Tao Institute” to find our school. From there you will be directed to log in, and you will then have access to our courses and membership community in a mobile-friendly format.

Occasionally students have log in issues, or issues viewing content on our website after logging in. We have found that many issues can be remedied with the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Make sure you are using a supported browser and that your browser is up to date. Supported browsers are: Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Microsoft Edge (Desktop), and iOS Safari, Chrome, and Samsung Internet (Mobile).
  • Try accessing the site in Private or Incognito Mode. This allows you to use the site without any extensions or other settings running in the background, which can help inform as to whether or not these are a factor.
  • Turn off Ad Blockers, Security Extensions or VPNs — Occasionally these seem not to play well with the course platform. Try whitelisting our website or disabling these temporarily to see if this helps. Occasionally Anti-Virus software also may contribute to log in or site viewing issues.
  • Clear Cookies and Browser Cache — Similar to the extensions issue, sometimes browser cache and cookie files can cause problems. Try clearing these and restarting your browser to see if this is the source of the issue.
  • If you are opening the page from a bookmark, try opening it by finding and accessing the course directly through the site instead. In some cases, if a page has been updated since it was bookmarked, you may see an error when you attempt to load the bookmarked page.
  • Try a different browser or device — If it works on a different browser or device, this helps determine if the issue is localized or browser/device specific
  • Restart the device.


If none of the above steps resolve the issue, please feel free to contact us and we will escalate the problem to the course provider who may offer feedback.  Sometimes changes with the course provider inadvertently cause issues, so it is important to inform us, and them, of these so they can be resolved by the developers.

Because our courses are movement based, we recommend viewing courses from the largest screen possible. This might be from a desktop or laptop computer, or by connecting a mobile device to a TV. You can follow along with the courses as long as you need to, until you can start to practice on your own.

A gifting option is available for A La Carte courses. When you go to check out, select “This is a gift” and the gift will be sent via email to your recipient. From there, they can create their own account and start practicing.

If you would like to gift a month or more for an online membership, please contact us directly.  A special coupon code can be created for the person to apply to their account for a specified period of time.  This will only work for new memberships, as these cannot be applied to an established ongoing membership.

At this time we do not offer teaching certifications. Our courses are designed for learning & practice only.

The practice of Qigong and Internal Martial Arts takes many years to learn, develop and master. A teacher must first be an excellent student. We ask all who are interested in pursuing this study to be empty of expectations and to let things unfold naturally.
